KANGAR, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Syarikat Air Perlis (SAP) is ready to monitor water supply infrastructure in flood-hit areas to ensure supply to consumers in the state is not disrupted.

SAP chief executive officer Dr Mohmad Asari Daud said they would monitor water facilities such as pump houses and treatment plants at all times, especially in flood-prone areas like Kangar and Arau.

"We always take precautionary steps to avoid any water supply disruptions although, so far, there have been no disruptions.

"For now, everything is under control. Usually, if there is flooding, landslides can cause pipes to be broken or damaged but, so far, the situation is still under control,” he told Bernama after the SAP appreciation ceremony for the Village Community Management Council (MPKK) at Dewan Wawasan 2020 here today.

Perlis Religious Affairs, Education, Human Development, Halal Industries and Information Committee chairman Muhammad Azmir Azizan officiated the ceremony on behalf of Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli.

As of 2 pm today, 148 flood victims in Perlis were still placed at four temporary evacuation centres - Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Arau, SK Dato Ahmad Musa and SK Kubang Gajah in Arau and SK Sena in Kangar.
