KOTA BHARU, Sept 20 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES) is undertaking 12 development projects in Kampung Aril, under the Kampung Angkat MADANI initiative, with completion expected by the end of this year.

Its Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said that the implementation of the development project will benefit about 2,200 villagers.

He said that the project involves an allocation of RM2.5 million, which has been distributed according to the needs of the project.

“Among the allocations, NRES has dedicated RM210,000 to the Department of Environment, for the cleaning and repainting of the bridge's handrails and cleaning up the canals.

“Additionally, we are working on repairing and upgrading garbage dump sites, as well as installing e-waste and recycling collection points,” he said, during a press conference after a working visit to Kampung Angkat MADANI, in Kampung Aril, today.

Nik Nazmi said that this could encourage recycling activities and an organized and safe electronic waste disposal site.

In addition, he said that the Department of Wildlife and National Parks has provided six units of wakaf (huts) for the use of villagers, for rest and gathering places, involving an allocation of RM250,000.

“Of this amount, three new wakaf units have been installed at the mosque, Wat Ariyakiri, and the cemetery, while three existing units at the Klinik Desa, paddy fields, and the three-way junction have been maintained and improved,” he explained.

Furthermore, Nik Nazmi announced that the Department of Minerals and Geoscience Malaysia has built ten wells with a depth of 30 metres, and one well with a depth of 100 metres, for the residents of Kampung Aril.

He indicated that a total of RM302,000 has been allocated to ensure a reliable supply of clean underground water for the villagers, while RM600,000 has been designated for road repair works and the installation of 44 solar street lights along Kampung Aril’s main road, provided by the Department of Survey and Mapping.

“I hope that this project will enhance the comfort of the residents, and reduce the risk of road accidents,” he stated.
