JUNE 26 DEADLINE TO PURCHASE RFP DOCUMENT FOR SABAH SOLAR PROJECT - ECOS

20/06/2024 09:17 PM

KOTA KINABALU, June 20 (Bernama) -- The Energy Commission of Sabah (ECoS) today announced that the deadline for potential bidders to purchase the request for proposal (RFP) document for the large-scale solar (LSS) photovoltaic (PV) power plant project “LLS-SABAH2024” will end on Wednesday, June 26, 2024.

ECoS chief executive officer Datuk Abdul Nasser Abdul Wahid said in a statement today that there will be an online briefing session held on July 1 for the document purchasers in order to facilitate the bid submission before the deadline on Sept 23 this year.

“Potential bidders are reminded that they are also required to appoint electrical contractors with class PV (grid-connected) or ‘ECCPV(GC)’ registered with ECoS,” he said.

Abdul Nasser noted that there are only 15 registered ECCPV(GC) contractors, with nine of them being local Sabah companies, and not all have the capability to do large-scale solar projects.

He has also called for all qualified and competent ECCPV(GC) to register with ECoS as more contractors are needed to handle the anticipated large number of LSS projects under the LSS-SABAH2024.

He stated that small-scale contractors are also needed to provide their services to support ongoing grid-connected solar photovoltaic systems for self-consumption (Selco-PV) Sabah programmes in order to support and provide more choices to would-be developers.

“As such, I strongly encourage interested contractors to register early with ECoS, and I can assure you that we will facilitate timely approval, subject to fulfilling the requirements,” he said.

According to the statement, the current list of ECCPV(GC) contractors can be viewed online at this website -- https://ecos.gov.my/content/list-contractors -- under the renewable energy category.

It said that interested parties can see the bidding document at ECoS headquarters located at Level 10, Plaza Shell, Kota Kinabalu, during office hours, while general information on the bid can also be obtained at this website https://www.ecos.gov.my/LSS-SABAH2024 or via email to LSS-SABAH2024@ecos.gov.my.

ECoS is a statutory body established by the Sabah state government since Jan 10 last year and operates as the regulator for the energy sector within the Chief Minister’s portfolio.
