KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 (Bernama) -- Invest Selangor Bhd is targeting RM7 billion in potential transaction value and anticipating over 60,000 visitors from 80 countries at the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) 2024.

Selangor executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility, Ng Sze Han is confident of achieving the target following last year's event, following the overwhelming success of last year's event, which recorded RM6.12 billion in transaction value and attracted 57,249 visitors.

"For the first time, SIBS 2024 will be structured into two dynamic series, namely Series One and Two, hence we expect more exhibitors and a higher number of visitors.

"We also believe the potential transaction value will increase as we look towards future economic growth in Malaysia," he told reporters at a press conference after officiating SIBS 2024.

SIBS is an annual business event initiated by the Selangor state government and organised by Invest Selangor Bhd.

Ng said SIBS 2024, to be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, will offer unparalleled opportunities for industry insights, engagement and international networking.

Series One, held from July 25-27, will focus on investment themes through two key events, namely the Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC) and the Selangor Investment and Industrial Park Expo (SPARK).

Meanwhile, Series Two, to be held Oct 16-19, will delve into specific sectors with three main events, namely the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC), Selangor Life Sciences Convention (SLC) and Selangor International Expo (Food and Beverages) (SIE F&B).

In his speech, Ng said SABC is the key regional investment forum, where speakers will discuss challenges and opportunities within the context of the Southeast Asian region as a global investment destination.

SPARK will feature key industrial park ecosystem players and suppliers from the region, with participation from the industrial park ecosystem from the majority of ASEAN member states.

He added that SDEC will centre around the theme of exploring artificial intelligence innovation in mobility, healthcare and education, while SLC will be featuring a conference and expo on the Life Science Sector.

In addition, Ng said the Selangor International Halal Convention or SELHAC 2024 will be held in conjunction with the SIE (F&B) 2024.

It will feature the Supermarket Buyers Programme which allows participating supermarkets and hypermarkets to onboard SIE(F&B) exhibitors into their supermarkets.

According to Selangor Executive Councillor for Islamic Affairs and Innovation Culture, Dr Fahmi Ngah, SELHAC 2024 expects to achieve more than 60 per cent successful market penetration, from 150 companies that are expected to participate in business matching sessions at the event.

This year, it will focus on three pivotal areas, namely accelerating halal certification for small and medium enterprises, optimisation of halal supply chain logistics and adopting halal digital innovation.

SELHAC 2024 will feature over 80 exhibitors within the Halal sector, including tourism, logistic supply chain, food and beverages as well as pharmaceuticals and health.
