WHOLESALER CHARGED WITH 116 COUNTS OF FAILING TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTS ON DIESEL PURCHASE FOR EXPORT

KOTA BHARU, June 23  (Bernama) -- A wholesaler pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here today to 116 charges of failing to submit documents on his diesel purchase worth more than RM10 million for export and not maintaining a record of the diesel stock.

Mohd Fared Ramli, 36, the proprietor of Wau Beremas Enterprise,  made the plea after the charges were read out before Judge Zulkifli Abllah.

He was charged with committing all the offences at a premises in Jalan Sultan Omar, Kampung Chepa, Kubang Kerian, here at 12.30 pm on Dec 18, 2022.

On the first to the 58th charges, Mohd Fared, who holds a diesel wholesale licence, was charged with failing to submit documents and information required by the Assistant Controller of Supply under Section 8(1)(a) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 (Act 122) concerning the purchase of diesel for export purposes.

For the remaining charges, he was alleged to have failed to maintain a record containing information about his diesel stock, which included the date, price, name and address of the seller or buyer for the sale of the fuel for export purposes.

In failing to do so, he had breached Regulation 13(1) and 21 (1) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974 which is punishable under Section 22(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 Act.

If convicted, he can be jailed for up to three years or fined up to RM1 million or both.

The prosecution was handled by deputy public prosecutors Mohd Sophian Zakaria and Suhana Mohd from the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN), while Mohd Fared was represented by lawyer Datuk Sukri Mohamed.

The court allowed Mohd Fared bail of RM100,000 bail and also ordered him to report himself at the KPDN headquarters in Putrajaya once a month and to surrender his passport.

The court set July 23 for mention.
