PUTRAJAYA, June 21 (Bernama) -- Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI) involving the sharing of experience in the recovery of IWK's business, technological innovation related to wastewater management and sewerage and capacity-building of mutual interest.

The MOU was signed by representatives of both parties and witnessed by Deputy Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir during the Singapore International Water Week 2024 (SIWW) held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre in Singapore held from June 18-19.

The Ministry of Energy Transition and Water Transformation (Petra) said in a statement today that Akmal Nasrullah has led a delegation to attend the forum to show the ministry’s commitment to explore new areas of cooperation in the water management sector in the region.

The SIWW is a biennial event and this year is the 10th time it has been held.  It is a platform that brings together stakeholders from the government sector, industry players, academics and the general public from various countries to share experiences and best practices in the water sector.

This year, SIWW 2024 was held together with the Cleanenviro Summit Singapore (CESG) 2024.

According to the ministry, Akmal Nasrullah also participated in the Joint Opening Ministerial Plenary session on June 19 as a panel member in the forum in conjunction with the joint opening of SIWW 2024 and CESG 2024.

“This session discussed the approach of regional countries in facing the climate change crisis, especially in the water management sector and policies in sustainable development in their respective countries,” according to the statement.

In the framework of his visit, Petra mentioned that the deputy minister also had the opportunity to see Singapore's success in managing wastewater and sewage as well as the reuse of wastewater during a visit to the Wastewater Reuse Plant (WRP) and the NEWater Plant in Changi.
