KLUANG, Sept 19 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi was among the thousands of attendees who addressed the night Kluang Berselawat Program at the Kampung Tengah Mosque here today.
Ahmad Zahid who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development arrived at the mosque at 8.45pm, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Public Works Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi and other state leaders.
The program which was held in conjunction with the celebration of Maulidur Rasul last Monday, started with prayers for the Prophet Muhammad SAW and was also filled with recitations of the al-Quran, qasidah and tazkirah.
Ahmad Zahid earlier had a working visit to the Mahkota military camp here, which is one of the largest military camps in Johor.
Through a posting on Facebook, Ahmad Zahid assured to continue to fight for the fate and catalyze the survival of the country's fighters, including in the aspects of education and welfare.
“Many improvements and new initiatives are being and will be implemented. God willing, as long as life is contained in the body, as long as life is permitted by God, as long as the power holds hands, I will continue to care,” he said.
Ahmad Zahid said his presence at the camp also brought back memories when he was Minister of Defence from 2009 to 2013.
