NEW DELHI, July 2 (Bernama) -- At least 27 people were killed in a stampede at a Hindu prayer gathering in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
The incident occurred in the Hathras district's Sikandra Rao area, about 180 km from New Delhi.
"We have received 27 bodies. Out of these, 25 are female and two are male," nearby Etah city's top medical officer, Dr Umesh Kumar Tripathi, told the media.
Many injured people were undergoing medical treatment in Etah, according to local media reports.
