PERAK ASSEMBLY TO SIT FROM JULY 9 TO 11 WITH THREE-HOUR Q & A SESSION

IPOH, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Perak State Legislative Assembly which will sit from July 9 to 11, will see a question and answer session over three hours instead of one hour or one and a half hours earlier.

Perak State Assembly Speaker Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid said it was to give space for more issues to be discussed and taken into account in the assembly.

"The minimum time for questions and answers before is one hour. If previously questions which were not discussed were answered in writing, this time we want more issues to be discussed during the three hours each day during this meeting," he said in a press conference here today.

Also present were Deputy Speaker Jenny Choy Tsi Jen and assembly secretary Abdul Majid Abdul Rahim.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Zahir said the motion to introduce a new enactment or regulation related to the control of stray animals in the state was one of the two private motions received at the sitting.

He said the motion will be brought by Keranji assemblyman Angeline Koo Haai Yen.

He added that another private motion on holding a special committee to deal with the issue of extreme weather phenomena and climate change as well as flash floods that affect the lives of the people in the state will be brought by Simpang Pulai assemblyman Wong Chai Yi.

A total of six members will be given the opportunity to debate each motion, three from the government and three from the opposition.

Touching on the etiquette of attire, Mohammad Zahir said council members are encouraged to wear batik on Thursdays.

"It is not mandatory but encouraged and wear Malaysian batik," he said.
