IKIM TO HOST TWO-DAY MADANI GLOBAL FORUM 2024 ON REVIVING ISLAMIC CIVILISATION

04/07/2024 09:35 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Institute of Islamic Understanding Malaysia (IKIM) will host the MADANI Global Forum 2024 on July 10 and 11 to discuss strategies for reviving the golden era of Islamic civilisation.

IKIM director-general Associate Professor Datuk Dr Mohamed Azam Mohamed Adil said the programme,  from 9 am to 5 pm, will feature experts in Islamic civilisation from around the world.

“The year 2024 marks 100 years since the fall of the Ottoman Empire. Following its collapse, Islamic countries sought independence and established their own nations amidst numerous conflicts.

“We are also witnessing how the Palestinian issue remains unresolved to this day. Therefore, we will take the spirit of the new Hijrah year this Sunday to organise this forum as a platform to discuss how Islamic countries can rise in the next 100 years to regain global influence,” he said at a special press conference here today.

Mohamed Azam said the forum will also focus on internationalising the Malaysian MADANI concept.

“The term MADANI itself holds significant meaning in the context of civilisation. Alhamdulillah, the Islamic world and Muslim communities everywhere look up to Malaysia. The leadership of (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has greatly impacted Muslim societies and Islamic countries,” he said.

In the spirit of Malaysia taking over the ASEAN chair next year, he said the forum would also serve as a platform to discuss strategies to advance Islamic civilisation within ASEAN.

Jointly organised with Persatuan Pencerdasan Umat Malaysia and the Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council, and sponsored by the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation, the programme will bring together speakers who include academics, government representatives, policymakers, diplomats and activists.

Other programme partners include the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (YADIM), Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE), the Regional Islamic Da’wah Council of Southeast Asia and the Pacific (RISEAP), and the National Union of Malaysian Muslim Students (PKPIM).

“Due to limited seating for 1,000 participants, we will also enable participation through online live broadcasts on several platforms during the two-day forum,” he said.

He said Anwar is also scheduled to deliver a special address at the forum's opening ceremony on the second day of the event at Sunway Putra Hotel here.
