GUA MUSANG, Sept 16 (Bernama) -- The Kelantan branch of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is encouraging more private companies to join the Ihsan Rahmah MADANI (IRM) initiative in helping the people, especially the low-income group (B40), to get non basic necessities at a cheaper price.

Its director, Azman Ismail said this initiative indirectly proves the ability of the private sector to bear its own costs, sales and profits in support of the government's efforts to ensure that the people can enjoy cheap prices.

"We encourage industry players together with the government to help the people. This is actually a corporate social responsibility (CSR) from the company concerned to provide assistance directly to the people by giving what they produce,” he said.

"Price reductions will be made by the companies involved, while the government will help make promotions to the people to get the goods on offer," he said.

He said this to reporters after officiating the Ihsan Rahmah MADANI Sales programme in conjunction with Malaysia Day near Bandar Utama here today.

Commenting further, Azman said so far three companies have joined the IRM initiative in Kelantan and are offering various products available at their premises with a price reduction of up to 50 per cent as an effort to support the government's agenda.

He also said that among the companies giving price reductions on their sales items are housing companies and companies providing school supplies

He added that for the Rahmah MADANI Sale, a total of 391 programmes have been implemented throughout Kelantan so far.
