1.FREE SCREENING FOR 40,000 COUPLES TO DETECT THOSE WITH RISK OF PASSING DOWN RARE DISORDERS -- THE STRAITS TIMES

With just a blood test or cheek swab, some 40,000 married couples over the next three years will be able to find out for free if they are at risk of having children with a rare genetic disorder.

The Meteorology Department warned that Typhoon Bibingka and Typhoon Pulasan will bring heavy rain, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds. They are predicted to hit lowland and coastal areas from September 17 to 19— both typhoons following the same path are expected to have a strong influence on weather conditions.
