NIBONG TEBAL, July 5 (Bernama) -- Voters in the Sungai Bakap state by-election tomorrow are advised to turn out early to ensure a smooth voting process.
UMNO Supreme Council Member Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan suggested that the best time for voters to cast their ballots is from 8 am to noon.
“For out-of-town voters, I urge you once again to return to your hometown if you wish to vote for candidate number one (Dr Joohari Ariffin). Take full advantage of this long weekend as it not only allows you to vote but also provides an opportunity to gather and meet with family,” he told reporters here today.
On the campaign's progress, Ahmad, who is also the head of the UMNO war room secretariat for the by-election, expressed satisfaction with the work done by the Unity government parties’ machinery and the candidate throughout the campaign period, which ends tonight.
Based on the community's response, he is confident that Joohari, the Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, can win tomorrow, adding that the campaign team has made every effort to secure victory for the Unity Government's candidate.
The by-election tomorrow is a straight fight between Joohari and Nibong Tebal PAS vice-chief Abidin Ismail.
The seat fell vacant following the death of incumbent Nor Zamri Latiff of PAS on May 24 due to stomach inflammation.
