SEREMBAN, Sept 20 (Bernama) – The wife of former Deputy Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Datuk Eddin Syazlee Shith, revealed that her late husband had expressed a wish to pass away on a Friday, and that wish has now been fulfilled.

Datin Dr Nurul Azlin Ibrahim, 45, shared that her late husband, a former Member of Parliament for Kuala Pilah, had been battling cancer since April, and had received treatment at Canselor Tuanku Muhriz UKM Hospital, and later at KPJ Specialist Hospital Seremban.

“His illness had reached a critical stage, which is why we brought him home from the hospital yesterday, on the doctor's advice. Before that, he asked me to take care of our two sons and daughter as best as I could.

“Since falling ill due to complications from cancer, he has not been active in politics, as he focused on his treatment,” she told reporters when met today.

Eddin Syazlee, 50, a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) supreme council member, passed away at 7.10 this morning, at his home in Taman Bukit Chedang.

Earlier, his remains were taken to Masjid Kariah Taman Bukit Chedang, this afternoon, for bathing, shrouding, and prayers, before being buried at the Bandar Ainsdale Muslim Cemetery, following Friday prayers.

In the meantime, Negeri Sembilan Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman, Mohamad Hanifah Abu Baker, described the passing of the state's PN advisor as a significant loss to the party, citing his contributions and role as a mentor to young leaders.

“He was one of the founders of Bersatu in Negeri Sembilan. I still remember one of his messages: he said that it can be quite difficult for a new leader to start in this state, but if we persevere, we will develop quality leadership in a few years. Now, we can see the effects of what he said.

“He served as the Kuala Pilah Member of Parliament (MP) and held three different portfolios. He did an outstanding job during his time when his health was still good,” he added.

Hanifah noted that the last time he met the deceased was yesterday evening when he visited him at home with other members of the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council.

“Yesterday, he could barely speak. When we met a week prior, he told me to continue fulfilling my responsibilities well and apologised if he had done anything wrong. Even at the end of his life, he remained committed to his duties as a leader,” he said.

Eddin Syazlee served as Kuala Pilah MP for one term, after winning the 14th General Election (GE) in 2018, during which he was appointed as Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department and Deputy Works Minister.
